Broadcast and Concert Producer

Hi! My name is Dylan! I'm an audio and broadcast engineer, and the producer for many productions across the east coast. I am a founding partner of SJI Media LLC, a company dedicated to production for performance ensembles, and the Assistant Radio Operations Director and Technical Producer for Connecticut Public Broadcasting.

I am a lifelong musician, and I play French Horn and guitar professionally in all kinds of settings. In my free time, I am an avid composer, arranger, and band-leader! Compiled in this document are my resume, reference contacts, and work portfolio can be found here. If you have any questions, feel free to email me and I'll be happy to chat!

Technical Producer | Asst. Dir. Radio Operations
Connecticut Public Media
NPR

I started at Connecticut Public an intern in the radio and storytelling department, pitching, researching, and developing stories for a number of locally produced programmes. This developed into my current work as technical producer for a range of talk programmes, and as a broadcast engineer with responsibilities including pre-production, field audio capture, and live TV and radio operations. I led the migration of the Hartford facility's Dante network from a converged network to an air-gapped network. Position requires knowledge of SAS, Dante, the Blackmagic Design family, and in-house studio routing, with major technical work including maintaining a remote connections network, working with Comrex, on-air production using DAVID TurboPlayer, and system management and scheduling with DigiSystem, DigAIRange, and DBM.

Owner | Production Manager
SJI Media

SJI Media is a group initially formed to serve the needs of the community group, the Tidewater Winds, in order to allow them to perform while in lockdown. Now, SJI Media is an independent production company working with instrumental performance ensembles from around Virginia, specialising in concert production. We offer services in live-performance audio capture, audio editing, live-sound reinforcement, broadcast video, and holistic concert production. Current partners include the Virginia Symphony, Symphonicity, and Soundscapes.

Director
Deep Blue

I am the director for the Deep Blue family of ensembles. The ensembles include a traditional big band and small groups which play music ranging from jazz, soul, rnb, funk, pop, and vgm. The group is aimed at expanding the reach of jazz education in the Hampton Roads area for high school and college students, partnering with professionals to bring a unique performance experience for musicians and audiences alike!

Engineering | Chief Engineer
STN Channel Two

STN Channel Two is an organisation that revolves around putting together a thirty minute news broadcast every Friday at 5PM during the regular school year, and has been constructed to be as real-to-life as is possible. As an engineer, I was typically A1 for broadcasts, and managed the Dante networking and live broadcast uplink. As Chief Engineer, I oversaw all technical aspects of the station's operation, including maintaing a series of edit suites, maintaining all studio and office computers in a local network, upkeep of ROSS Xpression and Inception, RUSHWORKS A-List, Avid NEXUS Data Servers, Dante Networking, as well as any other techincal needs the organisation has. My most recent project was building a truck-in-a-box in order to allow the organisation mobile streaming capabilities for campus events. Recently, I documented the inner workings of the entire studio, which you can learn about here. I also worked as a producer, working on most major national or political coverage, including in-depth coverage of the midterms this past year.

Staff Broadcast Engineer
University of Hartford

As a student, I performed audio and broadcast engineering services for the University in an official capacity in several facets. Chief amongst my responsibilities is the reconstruction of the podcast studio for the School of Communications. This involved removing all of the physical wiring for the system and building a new system from the ground up to work with the Behringer audio ecosystem and Blackmagic video ecosystem. Another of my major responsibilities is broadcasts for the sprots division, and maintining the production truck for ESPN-ready broadcast.
